FIELD TRIPS

COMPETITIONS & PHOTOSHARES

The BPS Field Trip Committee organizes photographic field trips throughout the year, from events, to well-known scenic landmarks, to hidden gems suggested by club members. Some past field trips include:

  • Ross Farm

  • Acadian Village, Pubnico

  • Peggy’s and Polly’s Cove

  • Burntcoat Head and Bramber Flower Pot

  • Kejimkujik National Park and Seaside Adjunct

  • British Motoring Festival, Halifax Kite Festival, Privateer Days

These outings are great way to practice skills, and connect with other members.

CLUB EVENINGS

The club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from September through May, either in person or via Zoom. Meetings may be comprised of:

  • Member and guest presentations on both technical and artistic topics related to photography

  • Mini workshop or hands-on activities

  • Slide shows of competition results, photoshares and field trips

  • General announcements and discussions.

Club evenings are an opportunity to connect with fellow photographers, exchange ideas, learn new skills, and simply enjoy the company of people who share a passion for photography.

BPS members are invited to submit to internal club competitions in a variety of genres and themes. Images are judged anonymously, and constructive critique is provided by the judges.

BPS also participates in CAPA’s competitions as a member club.

For those who do not wish to compete, the club also organizes thematic “photoshares”, giving members another opportunity to share their images with fellow photographers.
